While I was at the Merrickville Postcard Show, I was real lucky to get this cover from one of the few dealers there that had covers as well as postcards.

This one is a local business advert cover. The Mickle Dyment Company operated a Lumber Mill and Supply company in a town 14 miles South of me.

In all the years I have been collecting the postal history of the area, this is the first time I have seen an advert cover from this company.

That looks like a cross between a belt and a garter device. I wonder if the proprietor was a stamp collector?

Afraid I cannot answer that particular question because I simply don't know. But, I guess it is anyone's guess and there is always the possibility he could have been - if he owned this lumber company (which he did) he most likely could afford the gems of the day <G>

Here is the device I was referring to, in case anyone wonders what I'm asking about. It appears in some watermarks, and in the design of a few Victorian stamps.
