I was browsing some covers for sale on the internet and came across this one for a newly established flight service. What I found interesting was a DUPLEX CANCEL dated January 5, 1971. Now I know Duplex Cancels were commonplace through the 1940s, and were being phased out by the time the 1950s and 1960s came about, but I don't recall ever seeing one in use as late as the 1970s:

Does anyone know whether this would be in contention for a LKU of a duplex cancel in the US? I suppose these devices were in post office desks for years and when an extra postmarking duty such as special cancels of this sort came about perhaps someone pulled out an old postmarking device to help out with the task at hand, but it does seem quite odd to see a duplex cancel as late as 1971.
Does anyone have examples of duplex cancels that may have been postmarked later than 1971?
