As you may know, I am not a collector of stamps. I was wondering...
How you all got started.

Did you start by saving stamps from personal mail you received?
Or was it a family member who introduced you?
Or was it that 1st purchased that caught your eye?

My father was a Merchant Marine in the 60's and he traveled a lot.
He would send me letters from wherever he was (China, Japan, Mexico, etc)
at the time and it never occurred to me to save the stamps.

Stamps, coins & currency collecting has never been something
within my family tree. Well at least there was never any discussion about it.
So I guess I am the only one in my family who has this 'addiction'.

I personally don't want to add another 'addiction'. I think coins and banknotes is enough for me,
which started for me later (1980's).

If ...I should come across a stamp I think might be of interest
for someone I'll pass it along.

So..back to my question...What got you started?
