Those are denominations. The Rub is for rubles.

I remember watching an interview of Dr. Feynman. It may be one of those Youtube videos above. He was fascinated by the name of the capitol of Tannu Tuva: Kyzyl. He thought what a fascinating place to have a name like Kyzyl. He was also a member of the Manhattan Project and served on the Space Shuttle Challenger accident investigation board. He was honored with a U.S. postage stamp, I believe.
