Palo uses Steiner's layout. If there is a specific variety you would to see if covered, give me the info and I can go check. I have a stampalbums.com subscription.

Can you lookup these for me on Steiner's, I want to see their layout.

- Columbians (Scott 230-245)
- 1902-1903 Perf 12 set (Scott 300-313)
- 1922-1926 Perf 11 set (Scott 551-573)
- 1932 Washington Bicentennials (Scott 704-715)
- 1938 Presidential Series (Scott 803-834)
- 1940 Famous American Series (Scott 859-893)

Basically I want them to be on one page, similar to how Scott has. I'm not loving Mystic's way of cutting those sets along with others, and putting them on multiple pages.

Thanks,
CF

I have a Cub Scout Leaders meeting. Soon as I get home, I'll grab the pages in question and post some screen shots.

Thanks Mike. Looks good, just sucks that all the Columbians are not all on the same page. I'm guessing on the 2nd page it picks up on the remainder of the information on the stamps?

Thanks guys, I appreciate you taking the time to help me out with the pictures.

Looks like the Steiner/Palo pages are similar to how the Scott National tries to keep sets together on the same page layout, which is what I was looking for in a replacement album. However I'm also liking the detailed descriptions Mystic offers, it tells the story better than just seeing a stamp and may help non collectors appreciate the stamps more.

I have quite a decision to make it seems. I'm going to have to see if it's worth for me to go with a layout that I'm happy with or one that will be better for showing off my collection, which granted isn't all that often.

I prefer the pictures of the stamps on the pages rather than just blank boxes.

Palo pages are the same as Steiner's but have B&W or, if you wish, color images of the stamps on their layouts, plus they are hinge-less.

Palo pages also have a different border (which I like less than the Steiner border.

You mean the additional ridges? (if visible on the resized pic)

I prefer the opposite The pictures of the stamps I'm missing steal the focus from the ones already in my collection. To each his own I guess

I think that's where the b&w photo is a good compromise. You can easily spot the stamps you have, because they are in color.

If you're collecting a foreign country, especially one that uses a different alphabet than your own (Cyrillic, Arabic, Oriental), then having a black and white photo precludes the need for a catalog and makes life easier.

One thing about Palo no one has mentioned- the page size, they are huge, compared to Mystic or even Scott. One advantage with Mystic is that if so inclined you can print your own pages for supplemental items such as covers and varieties, the pages are standard size and will fit into a printer. With Palo you can still create your own pages but you have to buy blanks from them, do your pages on standard paper then take the bunch to Kinko's and have them copied. I do like Palo however, do not use them for my US but for British area. Yes they are pricey but I find I like looking at my collections in them more than the ones on Scott pages. It's all a matter of preference.

One thing to mention. If you are an APS member you can buy some of the Palo line through Regency-Superior at a 10% discount with no postal charges. They carry just the British pages but you can save on binders.
