I found the following Australian A1 overprinted with N.W. Pacific Islands. The 2 1/2 d has watermark 8 (Wide crown, wide A), while the 2 and 3d are watermarked 10 (Narrow crown, narrow A). The 2d looks to have a break at the side line, meaning Die 1. I can't see a break on the 2 1/2, but am unsure of the 3d, which would make it a Die 2. What do the experts think?

Is this a small break on the 3d? Under magnification, I think so.

Parttime, to me it looks like the die I break but I'm terrible when it comes to 50/50 choices.

Is there a thread devoted to N. W. Pacific Islands overprints as this is the only post I have found using search? and NWPI was no help.

Thanks in anticipation....

Is this a record? Nearly 5 years after the initial query was posted, two replies pop up! Patience, I hope, was a virtue!

I had completely forgotten about this post. I'll reexamine this weekend, but it sure looks like a Die I upon closer examination. I'm sure I have many more examples now and can easily compare it to Die I copies. Thanks for the belated replies.
