I use hinges on some of my collections and have been buying vintage hinges on ebay, have always used the folded ones. Lately I have been trying to use up some old flat hinges. I crease them sharply before using but am getting bad results. The stamps all stick out from the page. I keep thinking in time they will flatten out but while some do most don't. It really looks ugly. Anyone else encounter this? I can use protectors on the pages to force the stamps to lie flat- but that adds bulk and expense. Ideas?

Yes, I know what you mean,
I use page protectors, so they eventualy do lie flat.
My suggestion, bite the bullet, ditch the flat hinges in the bin
and buy the folded, they are cheap as chips.

I go against convention and hinge down from the top perfs
I find that dangerous to the stamp if it is ever lifted.
I have no need to look at the back of the stamp.
Gum is of no interest to me.
