I think the best buy we have is netflix for 7.99 a month...terrific foreign films that we would never normally see...some people do not like sub titles...but they do not bother me..between the subtitles and the action I can tell whats going on !

When I buy a new TV (currently a 1999 Sharp 78# boat-anchor, although it works well), I might try Netflix, although every hour of movies is, umm, an hour away from stamps.

Nitrolures: That's quite an acquisition you described! If you don't mind disclosing, did you pick it up locally, or did you find it online somewhere?

Yes this was alocal deal listed om Kijiji - 84 yr old father of 8 passed away and not 1 of the kids had any interest. I say kids but all quite older than I am. Basically 80% looks to be direct purchases from Kenmore so I can only imagine what he paid over the years. After we agreed on terms the seller mentioned that his father had told his brother he had 2 stamps worth 10k . Since it was not a sales tactic I'm anxious to dig in but certainly not holding my breath . I have no dreams of alot of classics but this will peak my interest in new areas and probably make one heck of a lot of SCF auctions.

Kijiji, for those who are baffled, is an affiliate of ebay providing free classified ads. It is presumably renamed " ebay Classifieds" in the U.S., as the URL so redirects.

Wikipedia says:

Kijiji (Swahili: village) is a centralized network of online urban communities for posting local online classified advertisements. It is a subsidiary of ebay launched in March 2005.

Kijiji websites are currently available for more than 300 cities in Germany. Further Kijiji countries and regions are Canada, France, Italy, China, India, Taiwan, Belgium, Switzerland, Russia, Austria, and Japan. Kijiji was made available to selected cities in the United States on June 29, 2007.

Kijiji offers similar services and is seen as a competitor to Craigslist with the biggest differences being that Kijiji gets much less U.S. traffic and has an extensive pets section. Kijiji's owner ebay is also a minority shareholder in Craigslist.

According to ebay Classifieds Group, Kijiji is the most popular online classified service in Canada. [more]

I should have explained kijiji . Here in Canada it is bigger than craigslist except for possibly in major cities. Currently says over 5 million ads but not sure if that is just canada or globally. Those that are in canada or bordering states its worth a quick look now and then for everything from stamps to cars to jobs. The greatest collection I've ever viewed was from a kijiji ad and one that I deeply regret not getting a loan to buy but thats stamps. Right place right time and enough cash to pull the trigger.
