OK, if they are not Dennison, then they belong
in the same rarified atmosphere of Dennison.

They are an absolute Joy to remove. They hardly
disturbed the gum on the ones I have come across
in a shaubeck Album. Beautiful stuff.

For those who may not have seen or read it, the December 2012 issue of American Philatelist has an excellent 6-page article on stamp hinges available at this link:

http://digital.ipcprintservices.com...=133838&p=30

It may very well answer some of your questions about the various brands of stamp hinges that have hit the market and stories behind them.

Excellent wt1! and reassuring.
As Floortrader often says, it's how you use the hinge
that is is important.

Interesting to note, producers had no say in the quality or
grade of hinge coming from the supplier.
So packaging hype, was just that.

"Useless"? I wouldn't mind a "Hinge Stacker" :)
In Australia our hinges invariably curl and can be a pain in the neck.

So, I think we have Timm's answer from the article:

"Other hinges that span some of the same time period, such as Western Stamp Hinges (with their distinctive turquoise blue color) and those manufactured under several different names by Harold Cohn (Fold-O-Hinge and others), are of equally high quality, but do not garner the same name recognition and glint in the eye as Dennisons.

Wow, it seems Unitrade made both the "Dennisen" hinge and the "Foldo-Hinge," trying to play off the Dennison and Fold-O-Hinge name.

Hi

The December APS magazine has an article on stamp hinges and who made what and what was good and what was not.

Unfortunately I cannot get a link to the article.
