Quote:
What is azure?

I think you already figured it out, but "azure" is sort of a "sky blue".

If you are running Microsoft Windows, the default bluish Windows logo (4 wavy squares) -- I believe that is azure according to specifications.

As it turns out, light bluish colors are often difficult to scan/copy accurately.

Yes, thanks Kim.
originally I had used stamps, and the azure was not immediately apparent.
I was aware of the existence of the colour, but its relevance to philately and paper
was new.
It still puzzles me how issuing authorities came to decide on these
abstruce appearances of stamp issues.
Did someone suddenly decide, "lets print these on bluish paper!"? :)
or was this paper available cheaper at the time ?
Was it an anti counterfeit measure.
And it never appears again.

I had assumed it was either because of cheaper paper, or as an anti-counterfeiting measure (or maybe both?).

Here is an interesting short read on blue paper.

Wow! fascinating Kim, thanks for that link.
I've had another thought, subsequent to that information,
perhaps a specialty to honour the accession of King Carol 2
after all, he was appearing in his new Airforce uniform as well.

Another fascinating consideration for paper lovers,
is just how they printed the ARPA precursors, on pelure paper...?
Anyone handling these stamps, in block form
can understand they feel like Fairy dust, how they ever
handled the printing on such fine and delicate paper is both amazing and curious.
