While we are on the topic of the Grey Cup, I was wondering if there are any serious football fans that can identify the players on this postcard??

As you can see, it is a image of the "Hamilton Tigers" team, before they became known as the "Hamilton Tiger Cats". There are three of the players that are either initialed or has the signature. One appears to be Asher and another Stinson and the there are initials only on the third one, which I cannot make out.

Hope you don't mind the postcard in this thread but I thought the topic was appropriate.

I think the one you identify as "Asher" is actually Bob Isbister, a member of both the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame.

1905, that makes it 107 year old, so 7 years before the first Grey cup.

Yes Minesweeper, it is a very nice card to say the least. It is 7 years before the first Grey Cup as you stated and an image of the Hamilton Tigers before becoming the Hailton Tiger Cats.

It was also pleasing to know that Isbister is one of the players shown as well.

Like I stated earlier, I really don't follow football - sorry if that is sacreligious I do however follow hockey, but, that is another story that gets my dander up at the moment

The first Grey Cup game was actually in 1909 - there were a few years without any games during World War I. So, this year's game was the 100th Grey Cup, not the 100th anniversary of the first Grey Cup.
