may sound stupid but what is a pre decimal stamps?

these are stamps from countries that used the old pound system where you have pennies, shillings and pounds. Predecimal indicates that there were 12 pennies in a shilling and 20 shillings in a pound. Great Britain changed from 240 pennies in a pound to 100 in a pound in 1971, meaning that their currency became decimal. Other countries, such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa did this as well, although not in the same year.
