I soaked an Australian stamp off a parcel piece today and found this nice US cancel underneath. But there's a problem. There apparently is no bridge in Boston called the "South Weymouth Bridge." Using Google Maps, I couldn't find any evidence of its existence. I did find an image of a similar cancel on a cover from the WWII era, but that was it. Anyway, I presume the bridge has long since had its name changed to another. Does anybody know?

Could it be South Weymouth Branch? Possibly a post office outlet?

Hi jimjamtwo

Look for Bridge Street in South Weymouth Massachusetts

South Weymouth is South of Quincy on the Southern outskirts of Boston.

South Weymouth, Massachusetts has had a post office since 1910 and still is an active post office to this day, although the building has much to be desired. Here's a Google image of it today:

By the way, "Br." almost always stands for "Branch" as it relates to postmarks from the Boston area.

wt1, I'm surprised to read that - usually when "Br" is used for "Branch," the name of the institution is mentioned on the datestamp, e.g., "Bank of Boston." Otherwise, you don't know what it's a branch of.

That's an amazing Google photo, btw!
