Hello friends,

These 4 stamps have been bugging me since the 1980s. Could someone be kind enough to give me a reference and rough value for these?

Thank you in advance,

-Kurt

Hi Kurt,
you have the Tiger by the tail.

These are part of the Malay States
and there are quite a few.

These are the FMS = Federated Malay States issues
check your Catalogue of choice for details.
Each Catalogue seperates them differently.

Here are some I use in my Folder Hierarchy
Yours is at the top MS (Malay States) Federated Malay States.

In collecting circles, these are commonly known as "Leaping Tiger" issues

Postmarks you have
Top LHS = KUALA LUMPUR
Top RHS = RAUB
Bottom RHS = IPOH

Your 50c (1900) was worth $5 used some 10 years ago,
but yours is damaged, so considered a space filler.

That is the first time I have seen IPOH with a "squared circle"
postmark, I was not aware they existed.

Try Scott's Malaya (not Malaysia) Federated States; No.20 and subsequent. (The other 'states' would be identified on the stamps.)

Thanks Art.

Unfortunately, at some point along the way I misplaced or lost all my Scotts catalogs from the 80s and haven't the resources to replace them at the moment. I wonder if there are any similar online references for free or for a minimal subscription?

It's all a matter of how deeply you want to get into the hobby; for casual lookup, you can visit your local dealer, For more serious involvement, maybe ebay for select volume(s.)
There are a number of websites, many are new issues. Mystic, for example, which is seriously overpriced. I'm sure there will be other responses to your question.

Honestly I am pressed for time (18 month old daughter), so I think my best plan at this juncture in life would be to slowly try and organize/catalog one country or area at a time. Then, maybe as time permits, I can develop a theme for collecting again and start trading/selling/buying.

Clearly, I need to re-educate myself as my collection isn't the only thing that has gotten a bit dusty over the years.

Ironically, I used to buy from Mystic back in the 80's when I was a poor college student.

Thanks again for giving some good insight.
