Well, we still have 10 hours to go here where I live in Canada.

All the best to our SCF members and their families for 2013.

For ourselves personally, my wife was told the day before yesterday that she has bronchitis and I have pneumonia We are not starting 2013 the way we would like to.

Same as Bujutsu, I live in Canada. The most important for 2013 is to stay healthy or recover it. May god help the one struggling with bad health. Try to keep in good shape and stay positive.

Happy New Year to all SCF Members

I live in Southern California, so am in the Pacific time zone, and on these international boards, it always feels like we're bringing up the rear. (For instance, it was helpful to hear that Australia/NZ's world didn't end a week or two ago -- helped me plan my day here!)

Unless I'm missing something, other than Honolulu, the West Coast cities are pretty much the last major cities in the world to experience something date-specific.

So it's still the morning of Dec 31 here, but best wishes for a happy, healthy, peaceful and prosperous New Year! (Save some champagne for us out here ...)

Londonbus, do you celebrate at midnight or nightfall?
Just curious.

Strictly speaking, it is not celebrated officially, only those who wish to...mostly younger ones. There is no holiday and it is just an ordinary day.
The Jewish New Year is in September.
In our village there has always been a party but not this year [internal politics !]. I have often been the doorman, looking silly !

But midnight would be my answer, it's just that the next day is a working one so parties that do take place finish at 12.05 !

Here's the text from a classic postcard that must be about 80-90 years old -- but it still relays a classic sentiment:

Happy New Year, everyone!
here in Scotland, we party hard on New Year's Eve, or Hogmanay as we call it. So hard, in fact, that the 1st and the 2nd of January are both official holidays
Wishing everyone all the best for 2013

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope to have some more time to spend on SCF in 2013. Just today, I became a monthly supporter so that I can participate in the Buy/Sell/Trade sections of the forum.
