With me it really comes down to the most available flat surface.

You have flat surfaces in your home?

I made my stamp room in a large walk-in closet.

Yay! Another closet stamp collector! That's where my stamp room is too!

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.

While we are on the topic of stamp rooms, I came across these 2 postcards at our meeting just last Wednesday and thought I would share them in here. It is not the stamp rooms you were expecting, but, something with a different twist.

Here are urls to the same topic as well.

I'm glad philb mentioned his dining room table. I have to do the same thing every now and then with our dining room table as well. The collection has also grown to the point that we had to get special cabinets in the living room to house things as well.

Oh the shame, the shame <G>

Today my stamp room is a disaster. But it's multipurpose. I've got stamps, wine (filtered a batch of merlot today), two paintings I'm working on, and all sorts of 'year end' paper work lying around. Everything just gets shifted from one space to another.
Oh, and my daughter's been working on an art project. Somehow, the teacher hasn't taught the part about 'cleaning up' yet.
