Here is a good comparison of a real stamp between two forgeries of the six pence stamp.

Here are more SPIRO forgeries with a real stamp for comparison.
Also note the remainer cancel on the real stamp.In 1904 remainder stocks of these stamps were sold off with a violet diamond-shaped grill with four interior bars extended over two stamps.These violet cancels are not concidered as postal used cancels.

According to an old post by plateflaw, the remainder cancels with five bars are less common than the four-bar cancels. Seeing this thread reminds me that I was going to check for those...

easier tip,

real stamps are watermarked either Crown CC or Crown CA, forgeries are no watermark,

thanks for the extra info.......if enought photos and explanations are posted on the internet ,you have to believe up half the stamps send in to experts will be reduced,because as all this information gets posted online people will just search themselfs or come here and a few more sites for correct opinons.But there will always be some that can't be honestly I.D. from a scan .
