Hi Timm,

This is from the first series of five values, all with the same design showing the Ukrainian trident, Archangel Michael (the arms of Kiev) and the lion of Lviv/Galicia/Western Ukraine and each stamp is in two colours.

The second series has twelve values with four in each of three designs. Each design is the same size as this stamp but has the text in an ellipse around a single image which is again Archangel Michael (on the four lowest values), the trident (on the middle four values) or the lion (on the top four values). Each of these stamps is in a single colour.

Great information, thank you.

Now... Which ones are perforated and which ones are imperforated?

Hi Timm,

If you look at the Michel listing shown by Prahanoaki the imperf stamps have a square symbol after them and the perf stamps have the abbreviation "gez".

In the first series the 10s, 20s & 30s are imperf and the 1 kr & 2kr are perf.

All the values in the second series are available both perf and imperf.

Interesting that Michel list values for used stamps when they were unissued.

Hi BeeSee,

The unissued stamps West Ukraine Mi V - XXI are priced mint only. I believe the other stamps were issued and had at least some postal use although as Michel notes above Mi I - IV were only in use for two days!

This catalogue listing is interesting in that those Mi I-IV stamps have such low numbers of issue but are still relatively cheap. Mi I had only 2200 copies printed but the mint value is only €45. Imagine if those were issue numbers for PR China! The Drunken Concubine souvenir sheet has a catalogue value of $12,500, and 20,000 of those were printed. Supply vs. demand, I guess nobody much is demanding stamps from Western Ukraine ....

Ryan

Edit: wow, looking further down the list, Mi 58 & 59 were both issued with only 1000 copies, catalogue price is only €18!
