Holy guacamole Batman!

I have bought Dennison hinges around $6 dollars a pack but those days are long gone. For the longest time they were averaging $10 to $11 dollars. Now all of a sudden they have had a price jump to average $15 dollars a pack. Is it possible the supply has dwindled down?

Even Foldo which sold around $3 a pack is now averaging $4 to $5 a pack. Better stock up soon.

At the stamp show Sunday I happened to see a dealer I never buy from(hes almost totally U.S.stamps) had a box of kind of dusty strips of mounts..size 28,40 etc..so out of curiosity I asked him how much his mounts were...he said 7..i said what ? he said 7 dollars each..he said some dealers get 9 dollars a pack...i laughed at him...people can pay what they want..i would have given him a couple of dollars a packet..he probably paid nothing for them when he purchased a collection !!

Dennison hinges have not been manufactured by Dennison since the mid-late 1980s, so any that are for sale now are either the remains of a dwindling supply, therefore expensive, and would be about 30 years old. It is also possible that those being offered for sale may not really be Dennison hinges.

Dennison was acquired by Avery in the early 1990s and the new corporation named Avery Dennison. To my knowledge, they have never made hinges.

The real ones are spelled Dennison while the knockoffs are Dennisen. The knockoffs can be had for $3 to $4 a pack. Tried to bid on a lot of 35 packs of original ones but was way off on the bid.

Just found the link to that auction.

Checking that link, the 35 pack sale hinges are the newer ones produced by Dennison, as is the single pack that is 5th from the left (furthest to the right). The older Dennison hinges are the single packs in the 1st and 3rd columns, with the green pack (3rd column) being thhe oldest. One can tell by the shape of the "D" in Dennison. The older rounded script was replaced in the 70s or 80s by the "modern" slanted letter.
