And.... the Postal Museum has a whole section on Mr. Zip. The Dick Tracy poster is pictured. Has anyone played the ZIP Code board game? It looks fun!

I remember going door to door selling zip code books for school or scouts. It allowed people to find a city and add the zip code to their letters before it became well used.

There is a Mr. Zip stamp.

He's United States Scott CVP86 available at your local APC.

Cheers, Robert

Thanks for the link to the National Postal Museum.

My poster has one fold in the center. The scan makes it appear as there are is a second line (through the hat). My scanner bed isn't large enough to fit the entire poster, so I had to make two (2) scans (top/bottom) and butt them together to post on SCF. The line running horizontally across the poster, above the crease, is where I butted the two scans together.

I wonder what my 1970 "Dick Tracy-Mr. Zip" Poster is worth today??!?!

Compare those APC Mr. ZIP images to those in the original posters/stamp selvages shown on page 1 of this thread.

Mr. ZIP traditionally has his eyes always looking straight ahead. None of the original Mr. ZIP images ever show the eyes looking to the left, yet the APC varieties do.

Artistic license perhaps?

The USPS is really in financial trouble --- Mr. Zip lost the buttons on his uniform! Guess the USPS can't afford those anymore.

I must admit to having a little crush on Mr. Zip.

Would you two like to be alone?

Here's the reason for that USPS Facebook announcement about Mr. ZIP. Sadly, it looks as if he'll not get a stamp; but will only be brought back (part-time) on the selvage of certain 2013 stamps to commemorate his 50th anniversary:

It's annoying that he'll only be on the selvage of expensive stamps. These are way out of my budget.

Very funny, IBFS.
What goes on in the stamp room stays in the stamp room, right?

That's too bad, I was looking forward to seeing him in all his glory. I just don't understand why he got to glorify the chest of every mail carrier in the '60's, but still doesn't get the recognition he deserves on an actual stamp?
