I have a bunch of old Scott and Showgard mounts, some of which will not adhere. What type of glue can be used to affix these old mounts?

Hi acgeorge,

I use stamp hinges to fix the mount to the album leaf. Just like a stamp. The advantage with this is that if I ever need to re-arrange and re-mount a page it is a simple matter to remove the mounted stamp. The mounted stamp can then be re-fixed in the new layout with a new hinge and without the need for a new mount. All money so saved is more for my stamp budget.

I have had no problems at all using a standard Elmer`s glue stick. I've even reused mounts if they weren't too badly stuck to the old album- I remove them as carefully as I can, and glue-stick them into my album. If some paper remnant remains on the mount from the old album, so be it- some of those souvenir sheet mounts can be pricey!

My recommendation is to go to a craft store (AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, Michael's, etc.) armed with one of their 40% to 60% off coupons you can often find on the internet, and buy a product called:

TOMBOW Mono Adhesive (Removable)

It comes in a cartridge and retails for about $6 or $7 (with a coupon, much less of course). Be sure to get the removable adhesive (as they have a permanent adhesive, too).

The product works great to apply adhesive to the back of stamp mounts for insertion in an album, and when you need or want to relocate the stamp mount, it is easily removable without damaging your album page.

Here's the web page for the product I'm referring to:

The Elmer's glue stick I have. Never heard of Tombow, sounds interesting, I'll have to look for it. Thanks.

I went to the dollar store and in school supplies bought the tubes of stick glue. WORKS GREAT BUT IF YOU EVER WANT TO move or rearrange the mounts. It will remove part of the page.

Anyone tried the Hawid glue pen for this. Meant for repairing mounts, but should stick 'em to the page too. I can't get the Tombow in the UK. Well, not without paying twice the cost of it on shipping.

Elmers glue stick here also. I use it for all my mounts. I never moisten them any more.
