Okina masks were used by Sarugaku troupes in Japan when they performed Okina Sarugaku, before Noh was given its final form. Here is an image of a stamp depicting an Okina mask, which I believe is Hakushiki-jo, used for the main character in this play, and a fan, designed by Japanese artist Yutaka Yoshida, and issued by Japan on January 16, 1952, Scott No. 551, plus a photo of a similar Okina mask. - nethryk |
