I need help on identifying this stamp. It is a 5c overprint on a newspaper stamp. As I can remember, it is a very good stamp.

Looks like a variety of the overprint which is not Scott listed ,you may need a specialised catalog that goes into varities that Scott didn't list .

It was not listed under Cuba. I found it in Scott once years ago under another "country" (?) and I just couldn't remember where.

Fotofila, it might be possible that you saw it somewhere listed under United States, Military Administration of Cuba?

Scott Classic pictures the surcharges for this issue, and I agree with floortrader, yours looks like a composite of features.

The shape of the '5'...the top of the 't'...I don't assume Scott's illustrations are all-encompassing, so I don't assume there is something wrong with yours.

But, Scott also points out that forgeries of this Puerto Principe issue abound, and that expertizing is needed. I assume that would be doubly true for the items with higher catalogue values.

I picked up a US Possession remainder collection that included some Puerto Principe local overprints. Of the 7 in the album, one had a cert, 3 were on a page marked fakes and 3 were on the album pages. Before are go to the trouble to consider expertising the 3, I wanted to see if anyone any the knowledge to give them a quick look. Never like sending something in that is obviously fake. Looks to be Scott 181, 190, and 198.

These are the 3 Fakes that were in the album. Two actually have Falso printed on the stamp. If anyone has info on who made these, that would also be interesting.

I have some of them. You must be carefull with this stamps because many of them was printed as forgery. I have a stamp magazine that was writing by Robert Litrell from Florida Stamps Association about how to identify righ stamps of Puerto Principe. I can send you the information by email.

Regards.
