Lets clear the air .....you shown a Czechoslovakia stamp that catalogs .35 and has damaged overprinting ,we said it has no extra value . Then you shown a extremely rare stamp that catologs at $7,000.00 and sold for $11,000.00 ,so does that mean your 35 cents stamp should be valued at 45 cents ......ok ......so whats the point . |

I'm not talking about money! We're talking about the type of error in the overprint. |

Same, it is not an error. It is either a damaged overprint or bad inking. Neither are considered errors. If the overprint was upside down, that would be an error. Regardless, what Floortrader says is correct about the small value. If the stamp does appear in the same position on every sheet it is constant, and would have a little more value, but not much. That stamp is not listed in Scott, it was not an official issue of the Czechoslovakian government. OOps I stand corrected, it is Scott B9 (thanks K ) |

The 1st stamp you showed is incomplete inking -- it would be classified as a freak. However, most collectors would consider this type of freak as an undesirable flaw. An EFO collector might keep it, but I doubt they would pay above catalog value for it. The 2nd stamp you showed is a known flaw in the overprint device. The overprint appears genuine, as well as the flaw. You should get it certified. It's somewhat rare. k |

OK, I need to finish reading the entire thread before posting.
I see that the 2nd picture is not your stamp, but simply taken from an auction of rare stamps. Of course, I'm assuming you weren't the buyer.
Again, 1st stamp is a freak, no additional retail value expected.
2nd stamp, genuine and rare, retail value has high premium. |
