Here are images of a souvenir sheet and the stamp contained within it designed after a detail from painting entitled "Adoration of the Magi," by Flemish Baroque artist Sir Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), engraved by Jean De Vos, and issued by Democratic Republic of the Congo in December, 1969 for Christmas, Scott No. 662.

Arrived today on a postcard. The card has a "Marker Money" cancel, but I got lucky... it is a pen "X" right NEXT to the stamp instead of ON it!

The 500th anniversary of this beautiful painting was honored on a large block in 2012 (10 x 13 cm). It isn't strictly speaking a Christmas stamp, but it certainly fits in this thread. Raphael, Sistine Madonna, can be seen in Dresden; the painting measures 265 x 196 cm.

Nethryk and everyone some truly beautiful Christmas stamp images. Thank you.

I might add I am not particularly religious, but feel that often Christmas issues are some of the best.
