It's a Parramatta numeral 2 postmark. For the record, this was €6 delivered. It's had a gentle bath to remove four hinges and some of the 120+ years of dirt and grime, and I may give it another swim to make it even better

Those comsumptive semi postals are beautiful. There's really something amazing about that ornate Victorian style.

I've always like semi postals, for some reason. They often seem more to the point, and are sometimes quite poignant.
On the handsome side, here's a Belgian set I sold just yesterday on ebay.

King Leopold III in a military plane.
The surtax was for the benefit of the National Fund for Aeronautical Propaganda. Well, ok, maybe not so poignant.

No problem. I start all my auctions at $.99 US. Two bidders and a snipe bid brought this to the staggering sum of $1.25 plus postage. I'm not planning on retirement soon.

Switzerland issues semis also. Is anyone interested in trading French, Belgium, etc semipostals for my German, Holland and Swiss ones?

Canada has just recently issued a new semi-postal stamp benefiting their Community Foundation.

Here's the news story.

Kind of looks like Marius' icon, doesn't it?
