I've found these stamps in a ziplock bag in one of my stamp boxes as I was sorting it out and was surprised since I thought I've done all my Asian stamps. However, these have stumped me and I can't find them in my Scott catalog. Come on folks! Let's see how many we can do before khj gets back and tells us the answers!
2, 3 and 8 are 1945 Japanese Occupation Chinese National Currency surcharges for Shanghai/Nankin 5 and 7 are not provincial. They are 1946 Chinese National Currency surcharges on general issues. 4 is a 1942 Japanese Occupation issue for North China. 6 is Japanese occupation of Mengkiang.

By the way, khj, the secret is to lick the gum off a few MNHs and PRETEND it's candy. Less calories that way. |

X!X!X! raining in New Zealand!
Well 11, 14, 20, 23, 26 and 27 are national issues with 1948 Gold Yuan surcharges. I don't understand why you wouldn't find these in Scott.
12 and 17 More 1945 CNC surcharges for Japanese Occupation of Shanghai/Nanking
16 CNC 1945 surcharge, national.
13, 19, 22, 24 ditto but 1946
21 another Japanese Occupation of Mengkiang
25 1943 Japanese Occupation issue for the Yangtse Basin area (usually just gets called Nanking)
29 I'll leave this for khj. Looks to me like a provincial issue but since the postmark goes right through the character I want to read I'm keeping shtum.

Well, I'm back! A couple had left their purse (his wallet was inside her purse as well) and I had to go retrieve it because it had their ID's, driver's licenses, money, credit cards... inside. In about 2 weeks, I'll be posting my most recent high value stamp acquisitions.  Very good, Bamra1! You are right, most of those stamps are national issues and can be found in the main listings in Scott (SG divides things a little differently). However, if you aren't familiar with the Chinese script, they can be a little difficult to spot, and a lot of collectors will simply assume their are regional issues when they don't see them right away in the main listings. In additional, the CNC surcharges can be a little tricky, because if you are not familiar with them, then you end up scratching your head to figure out which of the multiple surcharges came first! OK, back to the catalogs...  |
