Thought it was interesting that I received a piece of mail today with no stamp or cancellation . Is postage due still in use in USA ?

Technically the USPS still will charge postage due to any underpaid letter but it is very seldom that they actually do so.

To answer the other part of your question, postage due is still used in the US. However, postage due stamps are no longer used. You would simply have to pay your postal employee if your mail was stamped "Postage Due"
