Dinosaurs from Benin 1984, these two FDC are not official one but in USA produced

Note: Thanks to Bear for these nice covers

I'm a bit confused by the following signature on the back side of these covers:
"@1986 Fleetwood, Cheyenne, Wyoming, U.S.A. 1170758
Original an by Gene Jarvis"

How come that covers with post mark of "First day issue" of 1984 produced in 1986 ?

According to http://www.artworkoriginals.com/EB5TB55E.HTM " This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood® First Day Cover for the Republic of Benin 75F Anatosaurus stamp issued December 14, 1984.
Artwork Copyright © 1986 Unicover Corporation. All Rights Reserved under United States and international copyright laws."

Can it be that Copyright protection line was printed on the backside of the covers 2 years later on still not sold covers ?

I have seen caches added to FDC covers years later . Perhaps these covers were canceled in 1984 and the caches and descriptions were added in 1986.

Unfortunately this not the case.

Some times ago I got an official answer about this oddity.
" Dear Mr. ...,

Thank you for your email. And for your patience, I received an answer from Unicover this morning. In 1986 Unicover (the company in which Fleetwood was originally a division of.) made a deal with the Post Office for the Republic of Benin to put the first day of issue cancellation (1984) on the 1986 product.

Here is what Unicover replied:

Thank you for your patience while we researched the matter of the images you received for the Flora and Fauna First Day Covers. The covers are authentic Fleetwood First Day Covers. Special arrangements were made with the country's post or agent. They were willing to cancel with the First Day of Issue cancel after the actual first day of issue.

Sometimes some countries actually cancel things on a different date than what it says on the cancel such as a canceled to order first day stamp or first day cover. At some stamp shows, some postal agencies can create FDC's and CTO's since they have the original first day cancellation devices. Legitimately used covers from such countries are rare.
