This possible historic artifact was discovered in Canada by a relic hunter,so could it be possible that this is perhaps from one of the Canadian King Georges' Wax Seals for his letters? This piece is very old as you can tell, and is extremely small in size as well
I am currently getting so very many things together for our estate sale so if any of the stamp community family members are interested in this piece, please leave me a message to discuss Hopefully we can keep in the family here.
Probably from late 18th to first half of 19th century. Probably a family name (last name). Most likely used by an agent of the crown or an attorney. The emblem is that of the clover, which may help.
It can't be mother of pearl because it is too soft for wax. It looks like Quartz to me. You can easy see clear stone with the gold layer, from the look I can't tell what kinds of metal it made with but most likely brass also the workmanship wasn't that good and no marking and trade mark. I don't think it was royal seal.
I think a seal representing any King George (at least from II through VI) would be highly likely to include some permutation of an intertwined G and R rather than the name.
I will try to get more pics of the seal tomorrow and see if we can spot something else on it..I havnt thaught of looking for any makers marks on it,ect..was so intrigued by the George on the underside
