Here is a interesting forgery ,first I thought it was just a over ink stamp. But once you see the tops of the buildings ,then you notice that its a crude fake .

Is there documentation of either of these ever used ? I assume these were produced for fraudulent postal use? and not philatelic ? Or were they printed for the stamp trade back when?

Thanks fredcdobbs and Prahanoaki ,I have no reference and couldn't find anything on line about these fakes .Im taking apart a stamp auction lot purchased recently and notice them . My guess and its only a guess is that they were made for the philatelic market ,since they are cheap stamps and made for the packet trade .Any help would be appreciated.

Wow! I'm impressed at the accuracy of the dies used. Someone obviously put a lot of skill, time and effort to avoid spending those few cents huh?

I found three of these forgeries (or simplified building type?). One is the same 2m you have, and 2 are the 20mark issue. One of them is used. The postmark is an oval shape. I can read (Danzig 1) at the top, (a) at the bottom. The date is (10.3.23.7-8 V. There are a few traces of gum on the back.

Here is what I have. One is a photo of the used forgery, the other is of the other forgeries and some presumably genuine ones for comparison, including one with a similar postmark.
