DC3 - I'm glad you like the topic of this thread, and thanks for your nice contributions! The House of Luxembourg was a late medieval European royal family, whose members between 1308 and 1437 ruled as King of the Romans and Holy Roman Emperors as well as Kings of Bohemia. Here are images of a sheet and the four stamps included in it featuring portraits of rulers from the House of Luxembourg, designed by the late Czech artist Oldrich Kulhánek (1940-2013), engraved by Miloš Ondrácek, and issued by Czech Republic on March 27, 1996, Scott No. 2982, and 2982a.-d. - nethryk John the Blind (1296-1346) Charles IV (1316–1378) Wenceslaus (1361–1419) Sigismund (1368–1437) |

Simeon I the Great (c. 864-927), Tsar of the Bulgarians and the Romans, ruled over the Bulgarian Empire from 893 until his death. His reign was a period of territorial expansion, but also of prosperity and cultural enlightenment, later deemed the Golden Age of Bulgarian culture. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a profile portrait of Tsar Simeon I, printed by typography, and issued by Bulgaria on May 12, 1929 as one of a set of ten stamps commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman Empire following the Russo-Turkish War (1877–78), and the millenary of Tsar Simeon, Scott No. 218, plus an image of a painting (1927) of the tsar seated on his throne, by Bulgarian artist Dimitar Gyudzhenov (1891-1979). - nethryk |

jjarmstrong47 - Thanks for your contributions!
Anastasios Alevizos ("A. Tassos," 1914-1985) was both an artist and an accomplished engraver. While it is certain that Tassos designed a number of postage stamps issued by Greece from 1954 to 1967, I have not yet been able to conclusively determine whether or not he also engraved some of them. It is possible that some of the stamps designed by Tassos were actually engraved and printed by De La Rue, Bradbury, Wilkinson, or perhaps another printing house. I am currently planning a visit to the American Philatelic Society's extensive library in June, and this question is one of the items on my research agenda.
Also, please note that the first name of Mr. Baril, the engraver of your two Canada Queen Elizabeth II portrait stamps, is "Yves," not "Jules."
