I just checked out their web site. The online experience, in my opinion, is better than Linn's, and you can download PDFs without going through the hoops I go through now with PDFs and Linns.

For those of you who need the link: http://www.stampnewsonline.net/

I used to get several philatelic magazines, including both of those (before they combined). Mekeel's was one of the older periodicals. When they downsized, I stopped getting both a while back (>>10years) because it was more like getting a newsletter filled with a handful of adds. I checked them out after they combined, but was not impressed, so I did not subscribe.

But now I look at their online edition, and I see there is a lot more content. And the content is pretty solid and interesting, although I don't understand why they are still using B&W stamp scans in some of the articles.

Anyway, it does look like they have improved quite a lot, and have done a much better job than Amos of getting up an online journal.

While they don't have the breadth of content that Linn's has, the articles in Stamp News Online are pretty good.

Thanks for posting this, Andy!

I have picked up their publications at various stamp shows and enjoy reading them. However, I have never subscribed. It's rather confusing to me that there are 3 very similar publications, all by the same company. Why don't they just combine the three???

There is an ad in the Wisconsin Federation of Stamp Clubs' newsletter (page 5) for 6 months of Mekeel's & Stamps Online, 6 months of US Stamp News Online, and 6 months of Stamp News Online (A $23.50 value) for only $9.
Details can be found here: http://www.wfscstamps.org/ATFP/ATFP-Apr2013.pdf

I'm going to give them a try!

Because they can earn more subscription revenue if they can convince you to subscribe to all three. But yes, much of the contents/ads are the same. It's kind of like the restaurant that presents a 4-dish meal using a total of 5 different ingredients. Yes, they are different because 1 ingredient is absent from each dish, but they are almost the same.

But, the online version seems to be pretty good. Its been over 10 years since I last checked out those periodicals. So it is a welcome improvement.
