One of my other hobbies is genealogy, and there is a new thread on one of the DNA-related sites that I monitor about whether it is possible to extract DNA from postage stamp gum.

I hope they mean from saliva on used postage stamp gum otherwise the dna will be mostly plant dna that gets extracted.

My first thought would be doing this for criminal research. I didn't know this was a serious interest for genealogy. Here is another good link...
