Back when I worked on the counter at
Canada Post (1986-92), we were, of course, under official instruction to turn in any stamps that we encountered that weren't "perfect".
Like heck, I thought.
During that time, I was fortunate to find a few examples of stamps that were less than "perfect". None of them are great rarities, I don't believe, but they are at least interesting. There was only one major variety from that time that I can remember, the "Pink Panther" variation on the 38c (?) Exploration stamps. There was also one issue that was less than satisfactory, the 38c PPCLI/Royal 22nd issue where there was a fair amount of "ghosting" in the figures of the soldiers, which resulted in very few plate blocks being issued while they tried to correct the problem.
For your consideration, here is an interesting misperf on the 39c Flag issue. These were received by a co-worker in a bundle of sheets; he only drew my attention to it after he had broken the sheet down into ten panes of ten (which fit nicely in our stock drawers), and again, only after he had sold 7 of those 10 panes. I did manage to grab the three he had left, though, and told him that if he ever found anything like that again, to let me know!
