Some Canadian acquisitions from todays estate auction. SC97 MH. I really wanted this one. The centering's pretty nice for this issue. George V war stamps and two precancels. The two bar precancel on the right is a Style 2, but I don't see the three bar precancel illustrated in Unitrade, so I don't know its style name. Newfoundland #209 MH and 259 MNH Newfoundland C19 airmail MNH And just for fun I managed to win this 1928 MNH British Columbia Airways #CL44 Yes, a few got away, but I'm content.

Nice stuff. I am getting more interested in the semi-postal Airways stamps. There is something so romantic about them. I visualize a room of guys wearing leather overcoats, goggles and long scarves, waiting for the next run in a biplane or two-seater across the wilds. |

Nice grab on the BC Airways! I've been interested in the Semi-officials for a while now, though I have only aquired a few so far. Sadly my bank roll can't keep up with my imagination. All in all you get some great specimens there, certainly nice additions to a collection! |

I noticed that the Quebec Tercentenary stamp has 'hair' lines. Nice one.

Hairlines, Bujutsu? I assume you are not talking about what's on Mssrs Cartier and Champlain's heads. ...ah, I see. #97i hairlines in margins. Is that them in the upper left corner? Adds about $5 to the catalogue value. |

The hairlines are caused by cracks in the plate. The cracks pick up extra ink, so when the stamps are printed you get fine lines in the margins and other larger white spaces of the stamp. I have a couple of 97i and a copy of 104viii, the 1-cent green Admiral, with pretty good hairlines through the numeral boxes. |

That's them jamesw
BTW - we found out today that we cannot make it to the Barrie meeting / auction. So, regarding that postal card greetings facsimile you have - could you send that and let me know what you want for it, or, when I see you at the Barrie show, then we can make a deal?

I think your Quebec is a real find and should be great addition to your collection.
Which auction were you bidding in? |

Hi there Easyone. The auction was in Lindsay, north east of Toronto. I live north of the city and there are literally dozens of auction houses a short drive in any direction. |

Thanks jamesw. I thought maybe it was an online type auction.
I'm in Brampton and I've been through Lindsay many times enroute to Ottawa. It's a beautiful corner of the province. |
