Yes, there was that as well. I was thinking only of post WW2 and the H****r issues. I, too, have quantities of both eras. Perhaps before I am too much older and greyer I will be able to sell them.

Hi,
I just spent the last two days doing the "initial load" for Germany in my keeper Scott's Part 1 (thru 1940) Big Blue album. The stamp count is 279 ! These are all different, all put in the proper designated album spaces. Whew, that's a whole lot of hinges licked!

Mobilman44,

I also collect Germany. As you can see, their history has a lot to do with the issues and prices. So many eras that you can specialize in. I'm currently working on the Allied occupation issues 1945 to 1949. Some are really expensive but most are reasonable. A fun and interesting collecting area. dan

The stamps of Europe and Asia put the effects of both world wars and occupation square in our faces. Many of us have loved ones who were there, at that time, and so many of the stamps just bring it to life.

Does anyone have images they can post of a few of Germany's more beautiful postage stamps? This seems a good thread to place them since it is about collecting Germany.

Here, you have a very typical Second Reich "Germania" stamp.
