JLL- It did turn out to be certified genuine and sold at auction last year.
ncarlson...It is hard for me to tell without a scan against a black background. Mine was perf. 10 at top. Note the scruffy appearance of the top perfs. I really hope you do have one. But three!? Wait for some other opinions, but the bottom line will probably be to have it certified. If and when you do have it certified, fight for a fair price based on recent auction results rather than one auction in 2001 which is what Scott based it's Cat. value on.
ncarlson: Your stamp is not #554d... looks like a regular #554, which retails for less than 20 cents. The difference is in the perferations. If you have a perf gauge, you can see for yourself that all the perfs measure 11.
IBFS: I need to remind myself to occasionally take a close look at the date of the post to which I am replying. Nevertheless, I'm very glad to hear that your stamp was the REAL thing!
