I happened to come across this poem when reading an old stamp journal and thought I'd post it:

The solution -- encourage a competing hobby...

H: I stopped by an antique shop on the way home from the stamp show, and I bought you this (unwrapping) -- it's a Victorian cut-glass fly swatter. They're very rare!

W: Ooooh, I LOVE it!

Smauggie, you have been a philatelist too long, else you'd remembered! Of course I have no room to talk, my wife collects decorative teapots!

Petert4522, you better watch she doesn't see the string- thematics- teapots on stamps; or else she will start collecting those also. No, I changed my mind, let her see them and we will have welcomed a new stamp collector into our world. Thats what we are all about. Arn't we?
