The one that has been giving me problems is MR2D, the 50 cent Admiral WAR TAX overprint in mint. I never see these for sale until recently, when two different auction houses had them available. Although it is not VF, which is my usual requirement, I can live with this one.

Sorry for the blurry photo. Wanted to get it on here quickly.

Just wondered if you can shed any light on the item below which is obviously Admiral related.

Congrats on completing the admiral collection, I'm working on one myself, but I have a long way to go as a newbie!

Congratulations

I just have to get a 10 cents plum in MNH. I do have one in MLH and would like to have the set complete in MNH. Still, I am satisfied I have these.

Congrats,
I am still looking for a nice MR2Di. I don't care if it is mint or used (a nice used with light cancel would be great). As long as it is not faulty (crease, tear, thin) and decently centred.

scotzm: what you are showing may be a template used to illustrate plate varieties (eg. re-entries, plate flaws, etc.) Often used in the past, especially before close up scanning was common.

I was bidding on an MR2Di last month but it went for too much. If I see one at auction and I can get it for a good price, I will try again but I am pretty satisfied with this one.

scotzm, I don't know what that image is as I have never seen one before. Probably is what 3Dadeo said it was.

O.K. Thanks for the input re my Admiral template. Looking at the value tablet, the design is obviously of the single figure denomination type.
Something to research someday. Cheers!

Congrats Tom! I am still in search of all three War Tax overprints to round off my set of admirals. I have also noticed that any of the overprints are hard to find, especially at a price point I am willing to swallow.

I don't recall the first two being all that hard but this one took a long time. I would like to find one with better centring or maybe even the "Inland Revenue" variations but I think I will wait for a while.

The Admirals are my favourite of the several Canadian George V sets. I have a complete mint set of the base values but many of them are lightly hinged and centering is a little off on a couple, so I will try to upgrade the latter when I can. Now looking for coils and some of the War Tax issues.

Here is a Mint Hinged MR2Di, what would be a typical price for this one?

I would definitely buy that one if the price was right. A less-well centered one just went for $42 on ebay, but it also had a crease.

Assuming the one pictured has no hidden faults, it would probably be over $100, maybe $150+ depending.

Is it yours?

I was bidding for one on Weeda Auctions and it went for over $300, I think. It was a nice one too. VFNH.

There is a copy available at Maresch Auctions. EF NH. Probably will go for a large amount.
