Got Me Some Small Queens On Cover - With A Twist Of Lemon

I couldn't resist getting this cover, even though it is a bit shabby. Maybe I don't spend enough time around Canada covers by I had never seen different colors (and therefore different printings) of the same issue on the same cover.

Of course I was kidding about the lemon, in that I don't think the yellow stamp is "lemon yellow" in color, just yellow.


Upon closer examination, though, the yellow stamp looked a bit odd. Of course the first thing that comes to mind is, "Is it a re-entry?"

There is a re-entry of "CANADA", but not the same as yours.

Very cool! The late Montreal printings and second Ottawa printings are mostly in the yellow side of the shade of varieties. There is however, some yellow-orange stamps that came out of the second Ottawa printing. Second Ottawa period started 1889, and your 1890 cancel would put the mailing of this cover at least in that period. I think it is a nice example of some old stock/new stock from the post office on the day this was sent out.
