Hi, you can check out today's Houston Chronicle online and enjoy the rather large article on stamp collecting. The article uses a fellow that is really into duck stamps, but also talks of the efforts to get young folks interested in the hobby, and the joys of it as well.

Bob Dumaine owns Sam Houston Duck Company in Houston, Texas. He also created the National Duck Stamp Collectors Society www.ndscs.org , of which I am a member.

When I lived in Katy, TX (12 yrs ago) I used to frequent his shop on a regular basis. I have him and his shop to blame for getting me back into the hobby after a long hiatus from childhood.

If someone has the ability to post a digital copy of the Chronicle article that would be great. When I pull up the link above it requires me to be a "digital subscriber" to the paper in order to read the entire article.

Don't you love it when FAMOUS and wealthy stamp collectors are photographed holding stamps in their oily fingers instead of using tongs...

Experts handle stamps both with and without tongs all the time. They often examine a stamp by placing on the side of their closed fist. The hands of most people are dry enough to do this safely provided you know how to handle stamps properly. Obviously mint stamps require somewhat more care. I have seen C3a examples handled this way; I have done it myself.
