Wouldn't it be great if you got a paper version to do a limited run with the new stamp First Day Cancelled on a leaf (hmmm ... book, not tree !!). |

Thanks again all. And I welcome more comments .. the more the merrier. It certainly looks like what I expected - kind of a split between eBooks and paper, though, there are many more votes for eBooks than I expected. |

I'll usually go with the e-book and if I love it I'll buy the actual book book. |

Depending on what it is: Both.
For casual/bathroom reading (hey, that's where I read my Linn's, American Philatelist, American Stamp Dealer, etc.) I prefer the printed thing.
I like having the Scott catalogs on my iPad for when going to shows, but when I'm sitting at my desk working I like to have the physical catalogs.
Luckily my collecting tastes are such that I don't have to go broke duplicating catalogs every year.
Every year: Scott U.S. Specialized (iPad only, 2nd half of the book for $29.99) Every other year: Scott Classic Specialized (printed version only, about $100) Every 5-7 years: Full set of volumes 1-6 (iPad only now, $59.99 per volume)
It just so happens that 2013 will be a year in which I have to buy all 3 sets... $$KA-CHING$$ |

Sounds interesting.
My vote would be for a hard copy paper book. I've tried using my wife's kindle and iPad, and like them fine for short things like articles and web pages... but I prefer paper for book length manuscripts.
Some of it may have to do with the fact that I flip back and forth between different parts of a book frequently, and that's massively inconvenient with ebooks.
I guess you'd also have to take into account the predominant choice of your target market.
Cheers, Peter |

Thanks again for all the answers. As I expected, it is about 50-50 here. It means I will do an eBook for sure; and then limited number of print books to start. (The cost alone on print is about $6 a book, plus shipping - so unfortch that puts the cost much higher to the consumer - but I understand; I actually read all paper myself so far.)
My deadline has also moved up - I may have print versions in hand by end of July/early August. Ebook release will be a little later.
