Thinking about parting with this. I know it's scarce and not many (just 3 including mine I believe) exist, but it doesn't really fit into my collection. Knowing that it's scarce doesn't mean it's very valuable as there is the desirability factor which extremely limits it's market but then again the supply and demand aspect may work in my favor, who knows really? Now don't get wrong here, I most certainly know I'm not going to get rich- far from it however I wish it to be in the hands of someone who will know what it is and actually appreciate it. Would anyone have any idea what-so-ever as to what something like this may sell for or perhaps a possible catalog value and/or scott number? I would really appreciate it as I'm extremely interested to know. Thank you very much for your time and any effort. -Jeff

I would contact someone over at the Meter Stamp society http://www.meterstampsociety.com/ and inquire as to it's value. Then if you do list it on ebay / Bidstart I'd only do a buy it now. There is a small target audience for something like that.

I have a similar cover with the full meter tape + Slogan that is listed as "Extremely rare" and I was told by a person at the MSS that the value was around $40.

I wouldn't do a buy-it-now; that eliminates any upside competition. I would list it as an auction with the START bid at your "buy-it-now" target. If it doesn't sell, big deal. The listing fee is trivial. Run it again.

Interesting thread.

I still say that meters are gaining in popularity. This by itself will increase the value with meters generally.

My opinion of course.

I don't know anything about meters, or collect them (though admittedly have a couple), but that one looks quite interesting. Did you acquire it with all the accompanying information?

James it was brought to my attention after wt1 done some poking around. I printed out the information and put both the meter and info together in a page protector.

Here is the link he found -

The Meter is a Pitney Bowes F3B or F4A/B.
