I recently received this from Costco. It is the first time I have seen admail indicia's with a pictorial design (Gillette) and simulated perforations.

So is the 'stamp' actually a separate piece adhered to the card/cover or are they printed on as part of the design?

Beesee will confirm that the indicia is printed on the envelope. But an excellent point to bring up. This is the latest release from Canada Post describing indicia use:

http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/i...ndicia-e.pdf

I have summarized the information here:

http://postalhistorycorner.blogspot...indicia.html

According to Canada Post:

Quote:
A generic Postal Indicia must:

be made by a mechanical or photographic printing process and applied to the mail item or on self- adhesive labels that cannot be removed from the mail item

So labels are permitted for the generic indicia. However the added cost of affixing labels rather than printing indicia would discourage this practice.

It is not clear in the Canada Post release whether pictorial self-adhesive labels would be permitted.

Thanks for clearing that up lorddenning. So I guess both types could be found. If Canada Post insists that the labels "cannot be removed from the mail" then I wonder how they are accomplishing this. Some sort of non-water soluble gum? Or cuts in the paper so the label is torn to shreds when you try to soak it off?

It is printed directly on to the envelope. This was the envelope I got in the mail last week. If anyone wants it please message me, otherwise it's going in the recycle bin. Sorry for the bad lighting...the envelope is blue and white.
