Hello fellow collectors.
I recently purchased a world stamp collection from a fairly well known mid-west estate. The Friedmann collections. The books the stamps are with are circa 1934 and 1936. I do not deal much in stamps. My expertise lies in coins. I am just wondering how to liquidate such a varied and eccentric collection. The USA stamps are the only ones familiar to me. I am in the process of putting the collection into protective plastics.

This is one suggestion, but hang around. Others may have better ideas...

Welcome. I cannot comment on how to liquidate the collection. However, try to avoid placing the collection in protective plastic. PVC
speeds up degradation of the stamp paper, and traps moisture causing gum issues. Polypropelene-based covers and mounts provide better protection for both the paper and gum.

Also, if this is an older collection, check the album pages for foxing or mold. If any is found, remove the stamps and replace the album pages.

You should buy a set of Scott catalogs [new ones are about 120$ a volume, 6 or 7 volumes nowadays] and look up the catalog values. That will get you started. Good luck.
