What is your US collectiong focus, just postage stamps, or also revenues, covers, BOB, all of the above? This will have a big impact on the best philatelic literature to acquire.

That is the 2010 catalog. It can be had for a reasonable price as below. Of course if you go older, it can get even more reasonable.

Hi,
Don't forget the annual book the US Post Office puts out - The Postal Service Guide to US Stamps. I got an earlier edition off ebay for about $20 and it augments my Scott's Specialized book quite well.

Hi,
I urge you to check out ebay, especially as you are into the classic (early) era of US stamps. There are literally hundreds of books offered at very reasonable prices that cover the early years.
