Good point. That's basically what they did when it first started. For many years, I used the 1999 Scott Classic as a simple inventory list. It was softcover, and fairly thin and light-weight, convenient for me to carry to shows. I had bought it slightly used for something like $2.

As of a couple of years ago, you could still buy it new from Subway for ~$5. I don't use it anymore, as the later editions have included a lot more listings that I find very useful.
