Request for information
August 2013
Dear colleges and friends,
We are writing a book about the stamps issued throughout the world for the "International Year of the Child" (IYC). The UN declared 1979 the International year of the child and was actively sponsored by UNICEF. Most countries issued stamps and other philatelic items for that occasion. We are studying the designs of those stamps, what they represent, what were the guidelines given to the stamps designers, and how the final design was chosen.
Would you please kindly send us any information you may have, including a copy of the booklet that usually accompanies a new issue, newspapers articles, or any other information that relates to the IYC.
We will greatly appreciate your support on this project, and it will be properly acknowledged.
Please contact Alex at alupu@aol.com 507-206-4744.
Thank you,
Paul & Alex
