Hi,

I have a perforated Victorian Twopenny Blue which I appreciate isn't that rare.

however it appears to have been printed significantly off-set - please see picture.

Am no expert but am guessing this increases its value - any idea by how much?

Many thanks, Mike

Morning Mike, and to the forum,
The stamp being off-centre does affect value, but not in a good way! The Stanley Gibbons concise catalogue gives their value then states 'For well-centred, lightly used +125%', so you can assume that for a stamp so badly off-centre the value would not be as much as one that was better positioned. The plate 6 (yours looks like Perf 14) catalogues about £50, so a little less for this one. Sorry! Still a 'keeper' though, until a better one comes along.
Hope this helps...

Many thanks David

I am a obviously a novice at this game.

I understand perforations but if you have the time could you explain how you are certain it is plate 6?

Sorry to trouble you

Regards

Mike

Mike
If you look at the decorative panels running down the sides of the stamp, half-way down (just below the Queen's nose), you will see a '6' on each side. That is the plate number. They can be found on many Victorian stamps.
Best regards
David

This type is easy, but plating a penny black is another story!

It's still a cool stamp. One of my favorites.

There could come a point where the shift is so bad (good? ) that the stamp becomes interesting to an EFO collector (error, freaks, oddities).

This one would have quite a ways to go to get there, in my opinion.
